De-Lovely

I happened to watch this movie De-Lovely on Astro a couple of days ago. Not the usuals of movies that I would watch. However as I was flipping channels, cboy said 'Ih the guy singing in the background looks familiar'. After awhile only to realise it was Robbie Williams. Cool jua!

So much to say about this movie although critics rating was a B- and C+ by Yahoo Users

Have to say its a very hard movie to understand. I kept going like 'Apakan?' 'Apakan?' Indaku faham..But what made us stay put was the anticipation of the singers! Believe or not!

The likes of ...
Sheryl Crow
Alanis Morissette
Robbie Williams

and ... Lemar, Elvis Costello, Diana Krall, Natalie Cole and more...

I found this movie fascinating - the flow of the movie, between the characters and the story line. Actually trying to figure out the story pun was hard but trying to think what the director was trying to say, I thought was brilliant. Part like a Baz Lurman type of movie but not as dark but rather on brighter side of Baz, at least I think so.

Did I mention its a Musical movie, very theatre based, broadway like. Very interesting.. And the storyline of a famous composer set in the ??? 40's. I should check again for the year. Living a life of a homosexual amongst the elite, living with a wife who puts her devotion towards him. It's very moving especially the wife played by the beautiful Ashley Judd. Towards the end you can feel her sacrifices, you get to feel her passion and most of all her LOVE! This is what movies should portray. The truth about hardship, about happiness, about devotion, about passion in life.

Woooo... feels so deep. I better stop talking.. anyways, its a moving watch! Cole Porter the famous composer player by Kevin Kline - he, Mr Porter must be someone so inspiring that all these famous singers would want to sing in this movie. Warning, the songs are quite out dated for our times. I find it hard to absorb or even find a liking to it but after seeing the movie you would understand the beauty of the music itself.

Watch it and see what you think? If all fails and you think its crap, at least you get to watch Robbie Williams... and Diana Krall!!!!!

Short Description of the movie:

A musical portrait of American composer Cole Porter in which the musician looks back on his life as if it was one of his spectacular stage shows, with the people and events of his life becoming the actors and action onstage. Through elaborate production numbers Porter's elegant, excessive past comes to light--including his deeply complicated relationship with his wife and muse, Linda Lee Porter.
