Astro 7 new Channels

Since last week, keep seeing adverts on the new astro channels. So I thought I'd check out what exactly are the channels. Got info from this press release

Astro's 7 exciting new channels comprise a wide genre of entertainment and informative offerings for various age groups. Brief descriptions of each channel are as follows:

1. Astro Ceria - a Bahasa Malaysia language children's channel featuring exciting programming and interactive shows.

2. Astro ARUNA - a drama channel featuring sinetrons and telenovelas (with Bahasa Malaysia subtitles).

3. Astro KIRANA - a movie channel featuring movie titles from Asia and Europe (with Bahasa Malaysia subtitles).

4. WaTV - an infotainment channel featuring trendy youth lifestyle of the "New China"

5. CCTV 4 - a general interest channel featuring news, cultural, entertainment and dramas.

6. ZEE - an Indian variety entertainment channel featuring dramas, game shows and talent shows (with Bahasa Malaysia subtitles).

7. Animax - a 24-hour channel exclusively dedicated to Japanese animation (anime) programming.

In addition to the 7 new channels, Astro will also broadcast special Merdeka programming with LIVE broadcast of Konsert Merdeka KLCC on 30^th August, 9.00pm on Astro RIA and the Merdeka Parade at 8.00am, 31^st August on Astro RIA, Astro Prima, Astro Vaanavil and Astro Wah Lai Toi.

Existing Astro customers will be able to enjoy these 7 new channels at no additional charge until 28 February 2007, as will churned customers who re-activate their accounts before 30 September 2006. New customers who sign up on or before 30 September will enjoy the same benefits including free installation.
